Overcoming Challenges in Installing EV Infrastructure – Surry Hills
The McIntosh Electrical team recently completed a complex EV infrastructure installation in Surry Hills, including installing 4 x New distribution switchboards ready for last-mile EV cabling to individual units. We delivered a seamless, high-quality solution despite several significant challenges.
1. Installing Cable Trays at Extreme Heights
One of our biggest challenges was installing cable trays at a height of 10-15 metres. Working at such a high level required careful planning, precision, and strict adherence to safety measures.
- The team utilised scissor lifts throughout the project, ensuring safe and efficient access to the ceiling-mounted trays.
- Manoeuvring and securing the cable trays at this height required steady coordination, patience, and teamwork to ensure a neat, secure, and compliant installation.
2. Navigating Around Air Conditioning Ducts
Another major obstacle was the air conditioning ductwork, which impeded the planned cable run pathway. This required on-the-spot problem-solving and strategic rerouting to ensure the infrastructure could be installed without compromising efficiency or aesthetics.
- The team carefully adjusted the cable run, working around the ducts while maintaining optimal routing for performance and accessibility.
- Despite the challenges, we ensured a tidy, well-organised cabling system that met all compliance requirements and minimised visual impact.
Delivering a High-Quality, Future-Proof Solution
Through expert planning, skilled execution, and adaptability, the McIntosh team successfully installed the EV infrastructure, providing residents with reliable and efficient EV charging solutions.
